Holmes Beach is located right in the middle of Anna Maria Island, with the City of Anna Maria to the north and Bradenton Beach to the south. Holmes Beach was first homesteaded in 1896 by Sam and Anna Cobb. However, the area did not receive its current name until after World War II when a developer by the name of Holmes arrived and created the 600-acre community that we call Holmes Beach today.
Holmes Beach provides something for every interest, so your whole family will find something to enjoy. Of course, you have to visit the beach, and Manatee Public Beach is the most popular spot. You’ll find a playground for your kids to enjoy, picnic tables and grills to have lunch on the shore, and restrooms and showers that can accommodate all visitors. You can also take advantage of the various water sports throughout the area, whether you want to parasail high above the waves or sail right through them in a boat or jet-ski!
